Hello
I'm Tabitha, a psychological therapist working with people in Cumbria. I also offer online therapy to adults across the UK. My clients are looking to understand themselves better, work through emotional difficulties, and move toward a life that feels more balanced and meaningful. Scroll down to find out more about me and the type of work we could do together.
About Me
My therapeutic approach is grounded in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT). These approaches have a lot of evidence behind them demonstrating their effectiveness across a wide range of difficulties. At the heart of my work is a belief that you are not broken or in need of 'fixing', but we all find ourselves stuck from time to time in patterns that once made sense.
My background is in working with individuals living with chronic conditions such as CFS/ME and Long Covid. I have particular experience in supporting people facing burnout, exhaustion, depression, anxiety and difficulties rooted in traumatic events. Many of my clients are thoughtful, curious individuals who feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or like they've lost sight of who they are and what they want. Together, we work to make sense of these experiences and explore ways to build resilience, restore balance, and connect with what matters.
My work is influenced by philosophy, meaning I'm often thinking about the big-picture questions we all carry: purpose, identity, uncertainty, freedom, connection. I also pay close attention to the wider systems and life experiences that shape us - including workplace culture, health challenges, social roles, and inequality.
I currently split my time between private practice and my NHS role. I've also worked directly with NHS staff exposed to traumatic events at work and those experiencing burnout.
Clients often tell me they feel seen and understood. I bring warmth, humour and honesty to sessions, and I'm always aiming to strike the right balance between gentle support and practical direction. Therapy with me isn't just about coping - it's about discovering what's possible.
Outside of sessions, I'm slowly working my way through the Wainwrights, adding to my vinyl collection, and revisiting the same TV shows I've been watching since the 90s. I'm also likely to be experimenting with new veggie recipes and taking in the tranquillity of the Lake District - a place that deeply inspires my work and values.
It'd be lovely to hear from you - drop me a message using the form below.
